pool Architekten is not a typical architecture firm. The Zurich-based collective has eight equal partners and 70 employees working in rotating teams. This unique structure is an integral part of pool’s identity that deeply affects how it creates architecture.
Hanna Züllig and her colleague Emanuel Tschumi were tasked with conveying the group’s collaborative process while re-launching pool’s website. Besides understanding the collective’s philosophy and its work, the internauta team had to find a way to organise and present an extremely dense portfolio.
Visitors can now clearly and efficiently explore various projects according to pool’s predetermined filters. Meanwhile, responsive design ensures the site experience is maintained on an array of devices – a digitally democratic approach that seems especially fitting for the website of a non-hierarchical collective.
